A Crowning Achievement?

Via BoingBoing: At least one dental lab is offering some artistic restorations:

Crowns with portraits

Personally, we like the one with Queen Elizabeth – the whole “Crown of England on a crown” concept.

Interesting novelties? Sure. But that’s about all we can say without knowing more about them, especially what they’re made of.

Which brings us to the main point: you should never have any kind of restorative materials placed in your mouth without knowing what they’re made of and whether or not they are biocompatible. After all, you’ll be exposed to them 24/7, for years.

Aesthetics matter, but biocompatibility trumps all.
