Captain Obvious Strikes Dental Research Again

So there’s this new study in the Journal of Dental Research on “Predictors of Dental Caries Progression in Primary Teeth” – in other words, risk factors for kids getting cavities. We think you can probably guess a lot of them. Want to give it a try?

Now let’s see how you did. The major risk factors noted by the researchers are:

  • Drinking lots of soda
  • Being older (and therefore having more time to develop cavities)
  • Not seeing the dentist on a regular basis
  • Already having some cavities and parents or guardians with cavities
  • Believing that most kids will get cavities, regardless of what they do
  • Not having access to dental care

And to that, we can only say, “Genius.”
