Some Toothsome Holiday Gifts

How about a nice dentistry-related gift for the holidays…say, a handmade sterling silver charm shaped like…dentures?

Or maybe a dental chair is more to your liking.

Or floss, perhaps.

These and other dental and medical charms are made and sold by Amanda Jo, an Australia-based jewelry-maker. According to her website,

Amanda Jo’s handcrafted jewellery is designed from a combination of sterling silver and beautiful gemstones (including amber, amethyst, citrine, garnet, iolite, lapis lazuli, malachite, moonstone, peridot, rose & clear quartz, tanzanite, tourmaline and turquoise), freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystal or stunning Bali and Thai silver beads. Inspired by her passion for nature and art, Amanda Jo creates each beautiful piece by hand, ensuring the highest standard of workmanship and quality. With such an abundance of materials to work with, she is able to create jewellery to fit with any occasion and to suit all tastes.

Seems so.

But maybe you’re wanting something a little grittier or slightly macabre. In that case, how about some jewelry made from human teeth?

These come courtesy of two different sellers we’ve run across: Polly van der Glas – another Australian artist – and Loved to Death – a shop in San Francisco.

The start of a trend? Any of these would certainly be a unique holiday gift this year…or maybe any year.
